SSL Certificates

SSL Certificates provide security for your website by encrypting communications between the server and the website visitor. In order to use SSL, you need to have an SSL Certificate installed on your server.

As of mid-2018, Valice supports free, Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates on Managed WordPress and Shared Hosting services. If you have a shared hosting subscription and do not see the “Let’s Encrypt” option in your Plesk control panel, please contact us to provide you with a migration to a Let’s Encrypt supported environment.

Configuring Let’s Encrypt

From your Valice Account (my.valice.com), connect to your Plesk Control Panel

  1. Click on the domain you wish to secure
  2. Click on the “Let’s Encrypt” icon
  3. Enter a valid contact email address to receive associated notifications and/or warnings
  4. Select to also secure the www subdomain
  5. Click “Install”

Installing an SSL certificate allows your website to run over HTTPS but it doesn’t change the configuration of your website files which may still be set to run over HTTP. Switching your website to run over HTTPS exclusively is recommended and involves updating many links or files within your website. If you need remote hands assistance with this type of migration, please reach out to Valice support.
